My name is Abi. I grew up in Alabama, lived all over the Southeast and now live in Columbus Ohio. My favorite thing to do is practice and study and obsess about Ashtanga Yoga.

I started practicing Ashtanga after a personal crisis, and stumbled into the Mysore room to “find myself”, and I did (or rather I am still learning how to). I found a practice that added structure and balance into my life that I didn’t know I needed. I had been a climber for 9 years and studied yoga for about 4 years before I found this practice. I fell in love with and I got my 200hr YTT from Tough Love Yoga in Atlanta, but I became bored with the styles of yoga that I found in other studios. It wasn't them, it was me.

When I found Ashtanga, I was fascinated and intrigued by the depth and history of the practice, and I longed to dive deeper. So I found a teacher. I began studying with Authorized Level II teacher Taylor Hunt, and my practice took off. I started pursuing the path of teaching under his guidance and I am still being mentored by him. I started taking workshops with other teachers as well, such as Tim Feldmann, Harmony Slater, and Krista Shirley and made a point to practice with R. Sharath Jois any time he came to the US.

In 2018 I made my first trip to Mysore India to study with Parampaguru R. Sharath Jois for one month. That experience changed my life and allowed me to see deeper into the tradition of Ashtanga by immersing myself in the culture of the birthplace of the modern traditional practice.  I made another trip in 2019/20 for two months, December and January, and plan to make trips back as often as I can.

I began to teach whenever I could, stepping in for the Mysore Program at Ashtanga Yoga Columbus for a few months in 2018, teaching workshops in Ohio, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee and Kentucky.

Currently, I teach workshops, online classes, privates and study with my teachers to learn to be a more dedicated practitioner. I hope to be able to guide whoever needs me in this practice as much as I can, because I believe in the transformational power of this practice as I have seen in my life and in the lives of those around me. This practice serves as a tool to empower my life from the inside out and I hope to share with others how they can also benefit from the same work. I also help yogis and creatives find their voice online, another empowering tool! And I am looking forward to what is next in this journey.
